The need for further development of distance education

Distance education has many factors to recommend it.  It is low cost, highly accessible, and versatile.  However, further development is needed because the effectiveness of these courses is, in many instances, not adequately measured.  Quality instructional design is often lacking in online courses, partly due to the lack of expert developers.  Distance education is the wave of the future, but much work remains to be done.

    I agree about distance education is low cost and works with your schedule. What do you think would make distance learning better?

    I have the feeling that something is missing. Perhaps nothing can replace face to face contact. Plato was adamant about the emotional dimension of teaching.
